与其 (yǔqí)
In Chinese, "与其" can be translated as "rather", "instead of", or "preferably". It is used to express a preference for one situation or action over another.
Examples of usage:
- 与其抱怨,不如行动。 (Yǔqí bàoyuàn, bùrú xíngdòng.) — Rather than complaining, it's better to take action.
- 与其在家无所事事,不如外出锻炼身体。 (Yǔqí zài jiā wúsuǒshìshì, bùrú wàichū duànliàn shēntǐ.) — Instead of idling at home, it's better to go out and exercise.
