嗯 (ēn)

In Chinese, "嗯" is used to express agreement, acknowledgment, or confirmation, similar to the sounds "uhh" or "umm" in English.

Examples of usage:

• 他问我是否明天可以来。我回答“嗯”。 (Tā wèn wǒ shìfǒu míngtiān kěyǐ lái. Wǒ huídá "ēn".) - He asked if I could come tomorrow. I replied "uhh".
• 你明白了吗？- “嗯，我明白了”。 (Nǐ míngbáile ma? - "ēn, wǒ míngbáile".) - Do you understand? - "Yeah, I understand."
